ParkPal ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and your children's safety. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
🔒 Your children's names, ages, and profiles are ALWAYS private by default and protected at the database level. This cannot be changed by other users — ever.
Information We Collect
- Account information (name, email) when you sign in or create an account
- Location data to show parks near you — only while using the app
- Park reviews and check-ins you choose to submit
- App usage data to improve the experience
- Push notification token if you enable notifications
Children's Information
- Children's profiles are PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
- Your children's names and ages are never visible to other users
- This protection is enforced at the database level and cannot be disabled
- We never sell, share, or monetize any information about your children
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13
How We Use Your Information
- To show you parks near your location
- To save your favorite parks and check-ins
- To display your reviews to other parents (with your chosen display name only)
- To send push notifications for check-ins, badges, and reminders (if enabled)
- To improve ParkPal's features and performance
What We Never Do
- Sell your personal information to third parties
- Share your children's data with anyone
- Show ads based on your children's information
- Display your children's information publicly
- Share your location data with advertisers
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a SOC 2 compliant infrastructure provider. All data is encrypted in transit using SSL/TLS. We use Row Level Security to ensure users can only access their own data.
Location Data
ParkPal requests access to your location only to show you nearby parks. We do not store your precise location history. Location data is used in real-time and is not shared with third parties.
Third-Party Services
- Google Places API — used to find parks near you (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
- Supabase — secure database and authentication provider
- Open-Meteo — free weather data (no personal data shared)
Your Rights
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Opt out of push notifications at any time
Delete Your Account
To delete your account and all associated data, email us at privacy@parkpalapp.com. We will process your request within 30 days.
